    I wonder why Makoto Shinkai always does such sad stories? Both his previous works Hoshi no Koe and 5cm per Second were so sad… wai

    @Jac
    I think that his work’s one of high points is background illustration.
    And the beautiful background illustrations looks all the finer in the sad story.
    Though I’ve ever watched only 5cm per Second. lol
    Thank you for your comment!

    Wow. This movies popularity should be infanately higher. It is one of the most impressive anime I have ever seen. Such a subtle story, yet, the most powerful drama I have come across. I’m voting it up.

    So much emotion over such little detail. Exclently scripted, avoiding all unessessary / unbelievable drama. I’m not a big drama fan. I do not love sad stories. But this is done so well, I sure didn’t want it to end. (X_x )

    Dare I say. Leave it to a pretty lady to accidently be destracted and forget X_x. There are guys out there like this. That’s half the reason the movie is so powerful.

    I was very moved when I watched “5 Centimeters Per Second”, too. Especially at that final scene in which the man and the lady faced each other across the railway crossing. I think the story before the scene is very effective for the scene.
